Use of the information and communication technology (ICT) in Education

In this technological world, there is a drastic change in the learning process by the digital immigrant where information and communication technology has an important role in the world, since we are now in the information age era. With ICT we can do lots of things like exchanging our information with friends by messaging through social medias like e-mail, face book, twitter, watts app and Skype. It also has the power to change the nature of work and type of skills to be needed in the most field and profession.

Digital computer and networking has changed our living styles and learning approach. When I join the Paro College of Education I even don’t have any ideas and knowledge about how to use or operate the computer. When I was in first year, first semester college offers module called FIT were I learnt how to prepare the power point presentation, how to use excel, different search engine to access information and also how to create a folder to save our document.

I learned many things from lecturers and friends about ICT like preparing Power Point and operating other computer programs during my stay in this college. Whenever our tutor assigned us with some task I always used ICT to overcome my problems and doubts.  Using computer technology, I got more time to explore beyond the four walls of classroom. From the ICT module only I came to learned that, what are the features to include while preparing presentation and doing assignment on different modules. ICT help us to enhance learning and provides a platform that engages ourselves to learn new things.

I personally think that the use of ICT in the classroom teaching-learning is

very important. It provides opportunities for teachers and students to operate, manipulate, and retrieve information. It also enhance the quality of education in several ways where it help us to enables self-paced learning and it also provide wide range of up-to-date learning materials.
